New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday got approval from the BJP’s central leadership for the much awaited cabinet expansion in the state and 13 ministers are expected to be inducted in the council of ministers. Yeddyurappa said that the date of swearing will be fixed in the next one or two days.
However, he indicated that a swearing-in event might take place on February 3. At present, the State Council of Ministers has 18 ministers including the Chief Minister. There can be a maximum of 34 members in the cabinet and currently there is a scope to include 16 people. Yeddyurappa had long been awaiting the approval of the party high command for cabinet expansion.
Yeddyurappa said, “We discussed both today and tomorrow. (Amit) Shah has agreed to almost all suggestions.” He said that he was going back happily after getting the green signal for cabinet expansion. Yeddyurappa told reporters after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda have accepted most of our suggestions. If there are differences, we will discuss this in Bangalore and will be finalized. ”
He said the JD (S), Congress MLAs are who re-elected on BJP ticket after being disqualified, Most will be made ministers except one or two. He said that now there will be no new Deputy Chief Minister.
