Work on the plan to make AIIMS world-class will start soon

New Delhi, Jagran Correspondent. Physicians working here will be especially partners in the plan to make AIIMS a world-class medical university. In this endeavor, suggestions of organizations like Institute of Doctors and AIIMS Faculty Association, RDA (Resident Doctors Association) will be important. This is the reason why AIIMS administration has started a survey on the facilities available in the institute and its future needs. Suggestions have been sought from doctors for this. Therefore, on receiving some important suggestions from doctors, it will be included in the AIIMS Master Plan.

It is noteworthy that the Central Government has approved the plan for the master plan of AIIMS at a cost of 10 thousand 345 crore. Under this, AIIMS is to be developed as a world-class medical university to improve medical education, along with the expansion of state-of-the-art medical facilities. Also, about four thousand residential flats are to be built for doctors.

AIIMS is conducting survey at departmental level. Under this, rooms available for OPD from doctors of all departments, day-care facilities, labs, hospital beds for various departments, ICU beds, operation theater (OT), laboratory for medical students, resident doctors Information about rooms, auditorium, number of doctors and staff available, etc. has been sought. According to AIIMS administration, the institute is to be developed according to the needs of the next 30 years.

This is the plan: At present AIIMS has a total of 2478 beds. According to the AIIMS Master Plan, it will add 3000 additional beds. To improve medical education and research, a state-of-the-art educational and research block will be built with state-of-the-art facility. Which will feature robotic simulation lab, digital library, super specialty research lab, lecture hall, hi-tech class room, auditorium and event center etc. Its construction will conform to international standards. Apart from this, the institute will have a separate corridor for pedestrians and vehicles.

Patients are under tremendous pressure

Patients are under tremendous pressure in AIIMS. Every year around 41 lakh patients reach for treatment. Because of this, facilities in the institute are falling short. It is also having an impact on research work. This is the reason why AIIMS has to be developed keeping in mind future needs.
