SN Srivastava to be Delhi’s new police commissioner, will take over tomorrow


New Delhi: Senior IPS officer SN Srivastava will be the new Police Commissioner of Delhi. SN Srivastava will take over on Saturday. The current police commissioner Amulya Patnaik is retiring tomorrow. Earlier, he was given a one-month extension of service. SN Srivastava was appointed Special Commissioner (Law and Order) a few days ago. Earlier, he was posted in CRPF.

He was made Special Commissioner in Delhi Police to stop violence in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Delhi. SN Srivastava is a 1985 batch IPS officer. He has been in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram cadre. SN Srivastava has so far been posted in CRPF (Training) Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Ministry has issued an immediate order on Tuesday and appointed him here.

Amulya Patnaik, the current police commissioner of Delhi Police, was to retire in January this year but his tenure was extended by a month in view of the Delhi Assembly elections, now his term ends on February 29. SN Srivastava is said to be skilled in making quick and accurate decisions in the most difficult of situations. He has long experience in dealing with situations like civil war while living in ADG, Western Region (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir.
