Ranji Trophy: Half of Bihar team returned to play follow on against Chandigarh, Nishant’s half-century

Patna, JNN. The team of Bihar, who had come to play Faloan after crossing out to 115 against 420 runs in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match, crossed the hundred mark on Friday. Playing ahead of Guruwar by four runs, Bihar have scored 163 runs losing five wickets in 65 overs. Bihar still needs 142 runs. Kumar Nishant 77, Indrajit 44, Babul Kumar contributed 21 and Rahmat Ullah contributed 16 runs. Gurinder Singh took three wickets from Chandigarh, Jaskardeep one and Raman Vishnoi took one wicket from Chandigarh.

Earlier, in response to Chandigarh’s 420 runs in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match played against hosts Chandigarh on Thursday, the Bihar team was reduced to just 115 runs on Thursday for the third day and were forced to play the follow-on. At the end of the game, Bihar had scored 4 runs without losing wickets in the second innings. On the first day, Indrajit Kumar was playing at 4 and Kumar Nishant at zero. On the basis of first innings, Bihar was still 301 runs behind from Chandigarh.

On the third day, Bihar lost Indrajit’s wicket by six runs for one wicket. After this, Babul Kumar tried to save the wicket on one side and the fall of wickets on the other side. Babul played an innings of 67 runs with the help of nine fours in 149 balls. Indrajit scored 18. The remaining could not enter double digits as well. Rahmat Ullah 5, Shasheem Rathore Zero, Vikas Ranjan 4, Ashutosh Aman 9, Vivek 2, Shivam 7, Samar Qadri was out. Gurinder Singh of Chandigarh took the maximum six wickets.
