Off the record: Priyanka Gandhi will not go to Rajya Sabha

National Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, after returning to India from Italy yesterday, took stock of the country’s political situation and was present in Parliament today. If sources are to be believed, Gandhi family members – Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka – met 2 times in 2 days.

According to sources, during this period the issue of sending Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to Rajya Sabha was discussed. During this time it was decided that she would continue working in the party. Priyanka will abstain from parliamentary responsibilities in view of the challenges ahead, so at the moment she will not have an entry in the Rajya Sabha. His emphasis will be on strengthening the party and helping his brother Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi may have to take over the reins of the party due to Sonia Gandhi’s poor health and inability to travel around the country.

Amidst the backdrop of these circumstances, the view has emerged that they should continue to work to reduce the pressure on the organizational structure of the Congress. There was also a demand in the Congress that Priyanka should be sent to the Rajya Sabha. First this demand was made by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. He wrote a letter to the interim president of Congress in this regard, stating that Priyanka should be sent to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan where the party is going to win 2 seats.

Gehlot wanted that Priyanka Gandhi’s popularity and charismatic personality should be used in Rajasthan. He is currently U.P. Is the General Secretary of the eastern part of the country. There are reports that Gehlot had recently met Priyanka on this issue. He wants Priyanka to play a more active role in politics through entry in the Rajya Sabha. Rahul Gandhi is already in the Lok Sabha.
