Jalandhar, Lok Insaaf Party MLA from Atma Nagar (Ludhiana) Simarjit Singh Bains said on Wednesday that the government departments owed Rs 2200 crore to Powerkam. Similarly, 1497 crore rupees are to be recovered from private consumers. Instead of recovering the dues from them, Powercom is harassing the general public. Connections are being cut for poor consumers who do not pay the bills. Bains said that the poor people whose electricity connections have been cut across the state, the Lok Insaaf Party will impose itself. On the question of arrears, he said that for this, the Punjab government will be demanded to forgive the arrears of the poor.

Here at the Punjab Press Club, he said that power is being sold expensive due to the policies of the Punjab government. The coal mine was purchased in the backward district of Bihar to supply coal in Punjab, but now instead of taking coal from there, it is being taken from the central government. Due to this, the government has lost Rs 700 crore. Along with this, the power purchase agreement with private power producers is also a major reason for the loss to the department. Under this, an agreement has been made for the fix price, while it needs to be changed with time.
