Kerala: Ban on two channels from airing, Delhi was banned for wrong reporting on violence


New Delhi The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has lifted the ban on two channels in Kerala. In fact, the ministry on Friday imposed a 48-hour stay on the telecast of two Kerala TV channels. It is alleged that his coverage related to the Delhi violence provoked communal frenzy.

Malayalam channels Media One and Asianet News TV were issued a show cause notice earlier in the case. After filing a reply on his behalf, the ministry found him guilty of violation of the provisions of the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act-1995.

In this connection, the ministry has banned the telecast or re-telecast of Media One and Asianet TV for 48 hours. The period has started from 7:30 pm on Thursday evening, which will continue till 7:30 pm on 8 March. The order issued said that the kind of reporting done by both channels could have sparked communal violence across the country. Especially when the situation is tense.
