Chandigarh (Dharni): Congress MLAs created a ruckus in the budget session of Haryana Assembly for not having zero hours on Thursday. Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta said that he is allowing two calling attention proposals instead of zero hours. On this, there was a loud noise in the house. All Congress MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda and Kiran Chaudhary, stood up from their seats. Cabinet ministers Kanwarpal Gurjar and Anil Vij took the front on behalf of the government.
Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta said that two attention calling proposals will be discussed today. This has been done in the House even before the zero hour did not happen. The Congress MLAs were adamant on holding zero hours, but the Speaker of the Assembly refused. The speaker accused the opposition of running away from the discussion on the call for attention. The speaker said that the first two calling attention proposals will be discussed. After this, if time is left, then we will get zero time. The Congress walked out of the House for not holding zero hours. During this, Congress MLAs chanted Bharat Mata ki Jai.
Calling attention to the proposal for raising the minimum support price of sugarcane was discussed in the House. The speaker accepted the call for attention and started discussing them. During this, INLD MLA Abhay Chautala clashed with Assembly Speaker Gyanchand Gupta. He accused the speaker of not giving him enough time to speak. Dissatisfied with the Speaker’s reply, Abhay walked out of the House.
During the call for attention, the Congress MLA reached Vel on the issue of sugarcane farmers. Congress MLA Shakuntala Khatak shouted slogans of BJP Murdabad. Congress MLAs returned to their seats only after the intervention of Chief Minister Manohar Lal. Controversy erupted over allegations and counter-charges for not raising the support price for sugarcane.
The Chief Minister said that even today, the highest sugarcane price is being given in Haryana. When the other states of the country are not able to increase the rate of sugarcane, then how can we cross the border. On this, Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda said that the rate of sugarcane is determined on its cost, but in the last 5 years the cost has increased significantly and the minimum support price of sugarcane has not been increased.
Hooda said that the government should fix the minimum support price of sugarcane according to the cost price. On this, Home Minister Anil Vij said that according to the rules, one can ask the same question on call tension motion, which is named in the calling attention motion. Congress MLA from Naraingarh, Shelly Chaudhary said that the government should tell what it is doing only to increase the income of sugarcane farmers? Currently the way in which sugarcane production cost is increasing. Accordingly, its minimum support price should be increased to Rs 400.
