New Delhi IRCTC has to pay a compensation of about Rs 1.62 lakh due to Tejas Express Private Train Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express being delayed by more than three hours on October 19 last. This railway company will provide compensation to its 950 passengers through insurance companies. This is happening for the first time in the history of Railways.
Officials said on Monday that the Tejas train left Lucknow at around 9.55 am after arriving at 6.10 am and reached New Delhi at around 3.40 pm instead of arriving at 12.25 pm. The train left from New Delhi to Lucknow at 5.35 pm instead of leaving at 3.35 pm. After this, the train arrived at 11.30 pm instead of arriving at 10.05 pm. Due to this, 450 passengers going from Lucknow to Delhi will get a compensation of Rs 250. Whereas every 500 passengers going from Delhi to Lucknow will be given hundred rupees.
Another official said that this compensation amount for each passenger can be obtained through the link given by the insurance company. This link is recorded on every ticket of Tejas Express. He also said that the delay in operating the Tejas Express on October 19 was due to derailment of a train near Kanpur.
In fact, in order to attract more and more people, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation i.e. IRCTC is providing excellent insurance facilities to the passengers in Tejas Train. IRCTC is providing travel insurance of Rs 25 lakh to passengers. Not only this, if the passenger’s house is stolen while traveling, then the cover of lakhs of rupees is also included in this insurance scheme.
