Mohali, The Punjab government is failing to take any decision in the special proposal vehicle (SPV) case for the development and maintenance of the industrial area. Due to which the basic facilities in the industrial sector are getting worse and worse. It may be noted that the SPV scheme for the industrial area was unanimously rejected at Mohali Municipal Corporation House about two months ago.

Mohali Industry Association (MIA) President Yogesh Sagar said that the Mohali Municipal Corporation under the civic body department is failing to improve the industrial sector. I had met the Industries Minister of Punjab regarding this matter. We were assured that the maintenance of the industrial area would be done better.

Yogesh Sagar said that both the Mohali Municipal Corporation and the Punjab Small Industries Export Corporation Limited should jointly develop the area. It should be noted that the Mohali Municipal Corporation collected about Rs 12 crore as property tax from the industrial area. But spent just three crores for the development of the area. Even after two decades, the industrial area is in poor condition, no toilets and street lights are closed. Even the condition of the sign board is very bad.

In September last year, the SPV was notified for the maintenance of industrial areas. The property tax corporation used to collect under this would go to the SPV. SPV will develop the area. The SPV formed under the scheme has been formed under the Centre’s plan. Under which industrial areas 4, 5, 7, 8, 8-A, 8-B, 9 and 9 are to be expanded. The MIA Infrastructure Development Association was also formed for the functioning of the SPV.

Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Kulwant Singh said that the decision taken regarding SPV was taken unanimously. He said that every effort is being made to provide basic facilities in the industrial area. He said that the corporation has taken its decision for this and further action has to be taken by the government now. The MIA said that the state government should take a decision on SPV as soon as possible.
