Lahore: Thirty-eight staff members of the Indian High Commission, including six diplomats and their families, left for India through the Wagah-Attari border on Tuesday. Earlier, Pakistan had asked India to reduce the staff of its High Commission in Islamabad by 50 per cent.
According to sources, 100 Pakistani nationals, including the families of the diplomatic staff, will return to Pakistan through the Wagah border.
Let me tell you that due to the ongoing diplomatic dispute between the two countries, India has also asked the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to reduce its staff by 50 per cent.
Tensions between the two countries erupted on May 31, when two officials of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi were declared “persona non grata”. He was ordered to leave the country within 24 hours.
